This week we lost a true brother and friend. I've hung out with Dave a million times, tattooed him a bunch, drank plenty of beers with him, talked tons of shit with him. Dave always wore a smile, even when shit was getting tough on him. He was one of those guys that was always fun to hang out with, no matter what was going on. Dave was way too young to go..he will be missed terribly, by myself, all the shopnight brothers, and anyone who's ever had a chance to meet him. Although we've hung out a million times, it doesn't seem like quite enough. It's times like these that are a reminder of just how short life is and I wish the reminders didn't have to hurt so bad. Much love Dave.
Rest in peace, brother.

Shovelhead update! (slow going)
Well shit...I didn't get much done this week..I had big plans to ride the ol sickle home, but it didn't happen.
Patrice and I stopped at Mr. Kafton's and picked up my rear wheel. Fresh tube and tire: engage! Thanks Dave!! I have some finagling to do with my rotor and new bolts, due to somebody getting handy with a drill. Apparently they thought it'd be a good idea to drill out the brake side flange to 7/16..sweet.
Anyhow..I finished mounting my carb support bracket blah blah blah.. I then proceeded to ride the piss out of her and get my clutch dialed. I have a little more tweaking to do on that end, but it's really close. So close. So very close.
I also got to hang out with the homeboys, which I love, and don't get to do nearly as often as I like. There were beers, chips and tri-tips, laughing, joking and grab ass. So, time well spent!
I didn't really get shit done, but I had a blast. Got my hands dirty and took some pictures. Check em out!

Just tooling around!
Hey, shit for brains! So goddamn..I don't know what's going on, but I can't seem to get myself outta the garage. I've been doing a bunch of artsy fartsy chopper shit. I can't get these hands to just IDLE! Here are a few pics of what these busy little fingers have been up to..besides just harvesting my booger farm..
If you've been paying any attention, you may have seen that I started tooling a bit of leather. I've made a shit ton of keychains and decided to just screw around with a piece of scrap. Tiny helmets: engage!! They turned out pretty cool (my opinion) for being a late night time killer.
Also! I've been dabbling with a bit of metal engraving, off and on, here and there..every time I do it, I realize how much I like it. Fun shit! The gas cap is for Willie, he told me what he wanted, I designed the rest. The badass crystal shift knob is for Patrice LaMoomba. He said I could do whatever the hell I wanted..that really puts the pressure on. Don't fuck up, Mike!!
Anyhow, pretty fun stuff. Check out the pictures. Comment if you dare!! Enjoy.

Shovelhead update!
So....Thursday, as per usual, was awesome! I took off from work early to help out Papa at the job site. He does REAL man's work, something I'm not used to. Sorted debris, odds and ends busy work. Whatever I can do to help. We finished up there and headed out to the shop. Beers: engage. Smokable produce: engage. Marty stories and buddy time, fuckin a: engage!!
So yeah... On to the shovel, I decided to build myself a new little switch housing..plate..whatever the fuck. My old one was....I'll say, "janky" at best. It ended up being really slow going due to the before mentioned beers and produce. Anyhow, I completed it.
Jamey had thrown a pair of tri tips on the grill and then bestowed the title of grill master unto me. My responsibility. Oh God. I pulled the meat off the heat, and we fucked it up. Damn tasty.
I regained focus and, with the help of Papa, started installing my carb support bracket. Being a mikuni, my carb doesn't BOLT on, it's just rubber and hose clamps. I really don't want it to fall off, so a support bracket is a MUST! This task was just about complete when Jamey and I realized, "it's fuckin cold, let's leave." So we did.
This Thursday was fun, what I lacked in productivity, I made up for with laughs. Got to see some good friends, a couple I haven't seen in WAY too long. Hanging with the usual suspects is ALWAYS a blast. I'm chipping away at the little shit that has to be done on the shovel, I'm goddamn ready to ride.

Shovelhead update! And video snippet!
Holy mother of fucker! This Thursday was awesome. I FINALLY got to ride the shovel! Tim and I did a bit of tooling around and got this beast in a ridable state. Seems as if the carb is pretty dialed. Thanks Tim!!
Timmo RE-jetted the carb. Again. Worked a bit of magic...I think I saw him sprinkle some pixie dust into the bowl..he also set the floats properly so my bike doesn't make pee-pee all over the shop floor. What a guy.
While Tim was busy making magic happen, I dialed my brake switch in just right..now the brake light turns ON when you hit the pedal, and OFF when you let go. I'm pretty sure that's how it's supposed to work. Sweet.
With these minor hurdles down, it was time to RIDE! Fired her up, set the idle and mixture close to proper, and Yayerrr!!! I took her down the street! Short shifts and low rpm's, as directed by Mr. Dave Kafton. Never having ridden a rigid before, I was a bit terrified of the ride, not bad at all! It felt goddamn AWESOME! Finally. Holy shit.
So...I have a few more kinks to work out, mainly paint and polish etc..but she's ready to ride. Thanks to all of the buddies for getting me to this point. Now it's up to me to fuck it up...er...finish it up. Check out the link below, just a small clip of the shovel idling. The photos were taken by Timmo, enjoy.

Keychains and the like!
Ladies, gentlemen, children of all ages! In my busy schedule of fucking off and picking my nose, I found some time to put some goodies together. By hand. That's right, hand tooled and hand riveted right here in the good ol U-S-of-A! These are for sale, the prices are as labeled on the pictures. If you love me, you'll buy one (or a bunch), and help fund some further choppering! If you're interested, you can find my email on my profile. Come out of the closet and show the world how much you love the MOTO! Word up.
